Scholarship Application Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: December 13, 2024

Eligibility: By submitting a scholarship application to Shine Through Foundation ("the Scholarship"), you acknowledge and agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not proceed with your application.

The Scholarship is open to eligible students who meet the following criteria:

Between the ages of 12 to 25 years old
Living within 45 miles of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex of Texas, USA
Facing financial challenges to afford the program the scholarship is requested for, and can provide evidence of this should it be requested as well as willing to sign an affidavit stating your financial hardship

Application Submission:

Accuracy: You must provide accurate and complete information in your application. Any false or misleading information may disqualify you from consideration.

Original Work: Any materials, essays, or documents submitted as part of the application must be your original work. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.

Submission Limit: Each applicant may submit only one application for a Scholarship

Selection Process:

Evaluation: Scholarship applications will be evaluated based on the criteria outlined in the Scholarship's guidelines. The selection process may include a review of academic records, essays, letters of recommendation, and other relevant materials.

Discretion: The selection committee's decisions are final and not subject to appeal. No correspondence or discussion will be entered into regarding the selection process.

Award and Disbursement

Notification: Scholarship recipients will be notified of their selection via the contact information provided in their application. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure their contact information is accurate and up to date.

Award Usage: Scholarship funds must be used for the specific program the scholarship is deemed approved for, as specified in the Scholarship guidelines. Any misuse of the funds may result in the revocation of the scholarship.

Taxes: Scholarship recipients are responsible for any taxes associated with the award. Shine Through Foundation will provide appropriate tax documentation if required by law.

Privacy: Data Usage: Information provided in scholarship applications will be used solely for the purpose of evaluating and administering the Scholarship. Personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Publicity: Scholarship recipients agree to allow Shine Through Foundation to use their names, photographs, likeness, and other information for publicity and promotional purposes related to the Scholarship, without further compensation. This includes, but is not limited to, sharing success stories on the Foundation’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, and other marketing materials.

Participating in Interviews: Recipients agree to participate in an interview with the Foundation, which may be conducted in written or recorded format. The purpose of the interview is to share how the scholarship has benefited the Recipient and to inspire future applicants and donors. The Foundation reserves the right to edit, publish, distribute, and use any content generated from the interviews or shared by the Recipient in relation to the scholarship, without additional approval or compensation. The Foundation will ensure that all content shared represents the Recipient in a positive and respectful manner. Personal details not relevant to promotional purposes will be kept confidential unless explicitly agreed upon by the Recipient. While participation in promotional activities is a condition of accepting the scholarship, Recipients are encouraged to communicate any concerns about this requirement with the Foundation. The Foundation is committed to working collaboratively with Recipients to ensure a comfortable experience.

Changes to Terms and Conditions: Shine Through Foundation reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting to ShineThrough.org.

Donation Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: January 1, 2023

By making a donation to Shine Through Foundation ("the Organization"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read these terms carefully before making your donation. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, do not proceed with your donation.

Donation Acceptance: The Organization reserves the right to accept or decline any donation at its discretion. We will not knowingly accept donations that are illegal, unethical, or in violation of these terms.
